Description
The Programmer will be responsible for creating the code required for a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. The machine tools include but are not limited to CNC Lathes, Vertical and Horizontal mills, Fabrication centers, Laser applications and other numerically controlled equipment. Support the machinist to develop and debug processes by applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Responsibilities:
Ø Review design packages and select components based on ABEC’s capabilities.
Ø Define a manufacturing plan for each component.
o Single work center
o Multiple work centers
Ø Create machining programs based on the manufacturing plan for each component.
o Design machine fixtures as required.
o Define material sizes required to process the component on the work centers.
o Selects proper cutting tools.
Ø Create set-up sheets for each process
o Tooling setup
o Fixturing setup (if required)
Ø Work with scheduling (if a different resource) defining a run schedule.
Ø Schedule based on an MRP style (critical path) approach.
Ø Support the machinist as needed
Ø Evaluate processes, cutters, inserts for improvements.
Ø Recommend process improvements.

Qualifications:
Ø 2 years’ experience in a machining/fabricating environment
Ø 3 years CAM Software experience
Ø G-Code / M-Code – Preference
Ø Tool Selection
Ø CAD Experience
Ø Model creation and manipulation
Ø Fixture design and fabricate
Ø Machining / Fabrication experience
o Machine Tooling Applications
o Tooling set-up, speeds, and feeds
o Tolerance / Process deviations
o Machining processes
Ø Material
o Types and sizes
Ø Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. / 23 kilograms
Ø Ability to wear personal protective equipment
Ø Follow all safety rules and policies
Ø Execute other tasks as assigned
